When it comes to my hair, I'm super cautious. Almost like an overly protective parent. From the ages of 7 to 21 I went to the same stylist. After her, I moved to a new stylist that I trust with my life. I have one friend who has done my sew-ins since my sophomore year in college. Outside of myself and my mom, there are only three people who have ever put their hands in my hair. If you read the Crown Me post, you'd know that my hair is a serious matter. But, with any journey, you have to step out of your comfort zone. This weekend, I had the pleasure of working with the team from Colour. I was a bit hesitant at first because I'm so picky with my hair- but it was an awesome experience.
Colour is a personal hairstyling service founded in Atlanta, Georgia. They stand behind the mantra "All women. All hair. All beautiful." The founder, Debra Shigley wants to transform the beauty industry for women of color. I was definitely on board.
Think of Colour like UberEats for your hair. You choose what you want. Make an appointment. And voila! A stylist is at your door! My stylist for the day was Cree. She was absolutely wonderful and did an amazing job with my faux-hawk.
For now, the Colour App is invite only. Subscribe to Her Modern Life today and get your invite code and a promo code to go towards your first appointment!
My hair color was done by Kimistry Hair Lab in Montgomery, Alabama.
