The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is one of my favorite places. It's always so peaceful and there's something new to see every time you go. Most recently, I went to check out newer pieces from Dale Chihuly. His very first exhibit in the Gardens was in 2004. Since then, the collection has grown to 20 pieces.
Each piece is designed by Chihuly and shipped to Atlanta. The entire process is pretty intense. The pieces are hand-blown, and assembled to perfection. Once they're ready to be shipped, they are disassembled and packed. When they reach Atlanta, the pieces are placed in their designated installation site and reassembled. The entire process was completed in 10 days for all 20 pieces.
The exhibit will run until October 30th. We went during the day, but I hear that the pieces look spectacular at night. The Botanical Gardens will have extended hours (open until 11) all Summer!
