2ND ANNUAL “CHANGE MART,” HOSTED BY CHANGE CHURCH

ATLANTA AREA STUDENTS RECEIVED NEW SNEAKERS AND BACK-TO-SCHOOL ESSENTIALS DURING 2ND ANNUAL “CHANGE MART,” HOSTED BY CHANGE CHURCH

Change Church, The Change Foundation and Local Businesses Gave Away Backpacks, School Supplies and New Sneakers to More Than 1,000 K-8 Children

Let the Church say AMEN! I know that contemporary churches with younger congregations and younger pastors get lots of criticism- but I can absolutely appreciate when they put those tithes to work in the community!

Yesterday, July, 20, 2024, Change Church partnered with The Change Foundation and local businesses to host the 2nd Annual Change Mart, a back-to-school initiative providing free school supplies and new sneakers to children in kindergarten through 8th grade.  Hosted at Change Church, the event was free and open to the public, including Change Church members and non-members.

The first 1,000 children received one free pair of sneakers as well as one backpack filled with supplies like pencils, crayons, notebooks, folders and more.  Items were distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and if a child’s shoe size was not available, he/she received a voucher to a local Rack Room Shoes to exchange for the correct size. Additionally, participants were treated to free haircuts from SpudKutz, Extravagant Kutz, Messiah Da Barber and Mr. Denson, and a chance to meet and take photos with the current Miss Georgia 2024, Ludwig Louizaire.

According to a NerdWallet survey, back-to-school shoppers will spend approximately $541 on school supplies and clothing.  Given that a large part of the population is already struggling financially or feel financially insecure, many will overextend themselves or go into debt to purchase school supplies.

Change Church and its partners provide essential support to families, ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed. The church plans to expand to its new Dekalb County location this fall 2024.
