Black Girl Sunscreen

Recently, I was contacted to review a new sunscreen- and it couldn’t have come at a better time! I suffer from an autoimmune disorder that attacks my skin cells. Outbreaks are painful and very annoying and they’re agitated by extreme sunlight. As a person who’s been waiting to hit the beach since last Summer, this was devastating (insert dramatic sigh).

I’ve been using my tube of Black Girl Sunscreen since I got it, but it was time to put it to the test at Hangout Music Festival. I spent the majority of my time on the beach or conducting interviews with the Sun right on my back.

The lotion went on perfectly; no loud smell, no gross residue and most importantly, it didn’t make me sticky! I only had to reapply once in 12 hours.

Lots of Black people have been taught that we shouldn’t use sunscreen, for one reason or another. Not only does BGS provide an awesome product, the brand is also out to inform people and fight stereotypes!
