The 4th and final quarter of 2018 is here. For me, this year has been about focus and discipline. The Five Cs for Q4 have nothing to do with gangbanging (lol) but they are super important if you want to finish the year strong. I’ve enlisted four of my favorite rappers (who love to throw up Cs) for a visual aid. Enjoy!
Commitment and loyalty go hand in hand. For the next three months remain loyal to your vision; your cause; and/or your team. It’s crunch time- the end of 2018 sets the pace for 2019. Stay present. Get involved and be positive. Even if this year didn’t go exactly how you wanted, keep your eyes on the prize. Be persistence and you will reap the reward.
In 2018, I can boldly say that my support system may be the best in the world. I’ve been blessed with an amazing family and friends who I wouldn’t trade for the world. It’s been great to finally have a clear mind and be able to enjoy solid connections. On the flip side, I’ve also learned the importance of mending broken relationships and stepping out of my comfort zone to form new ones.
Speaking of mending broken relationships– let’s talk about compassion. Life will HUMBLE all of us. I’ve witnessed it first hand. We all deserve to forgive and be forgiven. We’re all carrying our burdens, we just display them differently. There are only 3 months left in this year- if you need to say “sorry” or “I understand what you’re going through” do it now!
Grad school, certifications, licensing… whatever. If you’ve been thinking about furthering your education, do it. Honestly, this should really say “continuous improvement”. It can be formal or informal- going back to school or simply learning from YouTube. What ever you’re aiming for, learn as much about it as possible. Spend more time at the library or reach out to an expert in the field you’re interested in. Personally, I’ve done really well with this. Next year, I want to pick up a trade. I’ve been looking into trade schools that offer night class or online lessons. I’m not sure what exactly I want to do, but I think it’d be useful to have a trade. Never stop learning, never stop exploring, never stop getting better.
Whew. Competency. This one speaks for itself but I’d like to reiterate it’s importance. If you’re going to do something, do it well and do it right!
Honorable mentions go to COMMUNICATION and CONSISTENCY. We should all be comfortable expressing our thoughts, emotions and opinions. Learn to be concise and coherent. In other words, I said what I said. Also, I’ve decided that I’m only asking once going forward. Let me explain- lots of times, people hear you and they understand you. But they choose to play. So don’t even waste your time. Reminders are cool every now and then but sometimes you just shouldn’t waste your breath. But stay consistent in your goals. I took a major L this year but my bounce back game was superb. I won’t let a minor set back stop me from my ultimate destination and neither should you. Hearing “no” is a part of life. So dust yourself of and try again!
