The Ultimate Guide to Galentine’s Day

February 13th is one of the most anticipated days of the year—. Sure, the 14th is all about valentines and heart candies and romantic relationships, but the day before is a celebration of your girls—it’s Galentine’s Day! And although the pandemic has a huge impact on how we spend our average days (not to mention, special occasions) you can still make it work!

What is Galentine’s Day?

Made famous by Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope in the TV series Parks and Recreation, this fictional holiday has gained a lot of traction in the real world ever since the initial “Galentine’s Day” episode aired in 2010. And as Leslie describes it, “It’s only the best day of the year! Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it—breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”

This year, it’s celebrated on Saturday, February 13, 2022

So let’s get to it. Here is Her Modern Life’s Ultimate Guide to Galentine’s Day:

B is for breakfast.

We’ll leave the heart-shaped waffles for actual Valentine’s Day. Galentine’s is all about what the ladies want, and we want Waffle House. Of course a simple go-to is an All-Star meal. We went for double waffles and double scrambled eggs. Obviously, the best breakfast is colorful, so we went to Publix for lots and lots of fruit!

P is for Playlist

You need a fire soundtrack for a fire day. You can make your own, or you can listen to ours on Apple Music: Guide to Galentine’s.
